November Garden Care in Northern Georgia from a Regenerative and Organic Approach
In Northern Georgia, November marks a transition period in the garden as temperatures cool and the growing season winds down. Here's a guide to garden care during this time, focusing on regenerative and organic practices:
1. Soil Health
- Cover Crops: Plant cover crops like clover, vetch, or rye to improve soil health and prevent erosion. These crops add organic matter and nutrients when turned into the soil in spring.
- Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch (straw, leaves, or wood chips) to protect the soil, retain moisture, and suppress weeds.
2. Composting
- Continue to add kitchen scraps and garden waste to your compost pile. This enriches your soil and supports microbial life, crucial for regenerative gardening.
3. Garden Cleanup
- Remove Debris: Clear away spent annuals and any diseased plants to prevent pests and diseases from overwintering. If you had any issues with squash bugs this year, I would recommend burning the stems rather than composting them.
- Leave Some Stems: Consider leaving some perennials standing to provide habitat for beneficial insects and birds.
4. Planting
- Fall Planting: Now is a great time to plant garlic, shallots, and other bulbs. You can also plant perennials or trees, allowing them to establish roots before winter.
- Herbs: Consider planting cold-hardy herbs like thyme, sage, and rosemary.
- Cold Frames: Consider setting up cold frames for extending the growing season for greens and herbs.
5. Watering
- Ensure your garden is adequately watered before the first hard freeze, especially newly planted perennials and shrubs. Drip irrigation systems can be beneficial for minimizing water loss.
6. Pest Management
- Use organic pest control methods, such as neem oil or insecticidal soap, to manage any lingering pests. Focus on healthy plants that can withstand pests naturally.
7. Wildlife Habitat
- Create habitats for beneficial insects and wildlife by leaving some native plants intact and incorporating brush piles or birdhouses.
8. Planning for Spring
- Take this time to plan for your spring garden. Take notes on what worked and what didn’t this season to inform you of your plans. Consider crop rotation and companion planting strategies to enhance soil health and pest control. Sketch out your garden layout and make seed orders.
9. Tool Maintenance
- Clean and sharpen tools for the next growing season. Proper maintenance prolongs their life and ensures effective use.
10. Education and Community
- Engage with local gardening groups or workshops focused on regenerative practices. Sharing knowledge and experiences can foster a supportive gardening community. North Georgia Homestead Supply is a great resource for this.

Civic Duty
In the spirit of liberty and the foundational principles upon which our great nation is erected, one must acknowledge the paramount importance of the militia as a bulwark against tyranny and an assurance of our unalienable rights. The militia, composed of the virtuous citizenry, stands as the sentinel of our liberties—a force not merely of arms, but of the shared commitment to safeguard our Republic. It is through this collective embodiment of strength that we ensure the perpetuation of our freedom from oppressive forces, both foreign and domestic. A well-regulated militia, drawn from the populace, is critical not only for the defense of our land but also as a crucial check upon the potential overreach of government authority.
As we reflect upon our history, let us remember that the very blood of our forebears was shed in pursuit of self-governance. The militia serves as an industrial shield against the forces of despotism, empowering the citizen directly in the act of protecting the realm. Each individual, trained and prepared, embodies the very principles espoused in our Declaration of Independence—that the just powers of government derive from the consent of the governed.
Moreover, the existence of a militia fosters a spirit of unity and mutual reliance among citizens, reinforcing the bonds of community and obligation to one another. It nurtures the virtues of courage, discipline, and altruism, which are essential to the strength of our society at large. To neglect the militia is to imperil the very ideals we cherish—those of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In summation, the militia is not simply a military apparatus; it is an institution of democracy, a manifestation of the people’s will, and a vital conduit through which we may safeguard our rights and defend our dignities against any encroachment. Let us uphold its significance, entrusting it with the preservation of our liberties and the ideals of our great Republic.

Please go to the link below to listen to Dan Abbot, who serves in the VA National Guard and also, is the Commander of the Campbell County Militia. He tied the militia into the church and the Constitution with an in-depth explanation of our biblical foundation from our founders. He spoke about three things: the church leadership is failing us and failing in their primary responsibility. You cannot rule our type of govt without a solid moral Church background for it to operate correctly. Therefore, the failure is the church maintaining the body to control the government and represent the Judeo-Christian background. Church is the ultimate background. Freedom needs a solid arm to keep it!

The Importance of Supporting Local
Did you know that we have a gem for finding ways to support our community locally right here in Cherokee County? That's right we can thank Josh Bagby and his team for putting together one of the most utilized resources for helping those in need in Cherokee and also bringing an organic support to the community. Many of us laugh that Cherokee Connect is better than any detective agency we have seen in recent history.
In these times of wavering change, the support of local communities is what keeps us all thriving and keeps the large corporations accountable. If you have a small business or are planning to shop this holiday season... check out cherokeeconnectga.com. There you can list your business here in Cherokee and also support those in your community.
We are better together and supporting each other is what we are all about.

Stay Diligent in Prayer and Action
The global enemy of our freedom has a plan for our destruction, but God has a plan for our redemption. It may take a while in spiritual warfare before we overcome in this election, but we, as the America Church, must stay diligent in prayer and action, until we get victory. I received the following word from God in prayer this week that I am continuing to pray over as the election battle continues.
The Church must bring the Redemption of Government
I have created such a time as this to manifest My glorious church. Yes, she shall arise with healing and compassion, but she will be strong and courageous. For Evil has arisen and compassion will not stop it, but courage and strength fueled by compassion for its victims, can and must stop it. Now is the time to do all and stand and fight the good fight with faith, praying and acting to establish and defend righteousness and justice. I have given you free will to choose righteousness or evil, love or hate, strength or weakness, life or death, glory or shame. Discern the times and arise to be My glorious church and I will write your story in the heavens for all to see and rejoice in our victory together. Let us birth a new and exciting chapter in story that will be our story of overcoming the evil together to reign in glory. As long as the devil and his evil remain, you must stand strong and fight the good fight of righteousness and justice. For this is your heritage as the children of the living God and the bride of the King of glory.
Ester 4:13-16
13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Isaiah 54:17
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
Don’t give up after Tuesday. Stand and overcome as the American church until we overcome and claim our heritage.

Resilience Tip of the Week

|
Develop a Strong Network
Caring, supportive people around you act as a protective factor during times of crisis. Community resilience is the ability to prepare for anticipated hazards, adapt to changing conditions, and withstand and recover rapidly from disruptions. Disaster preparedness—which includes prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery—is crucial to resilience. Find your network of people in your neighborhood, church, and other like-minded groups.
