Code of Conduct

Introduction

This Code of Conduct policy outlines the ethical and moral standards expected of all members of our organization. Inspired by biblical principles, it serves to guide our actions, decisions, and interactions, fostering a culture of respect, integrity, and compassion.

Core Values

Love and Compassion

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Community Resilience is committed to treating everyone with love and compassion, valuing each individual's inherent dignity.

Integrity and Honesty

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. Proverbs 12:22

Community Resilience upholds the highest standards of integrity and honesty to ensure transparency in all our dealings.

Respect and Equality

My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

James 2:1-4 teaches us not to show favoritism but to treat everyone impartially. Community Resilience promotes respect and equality, condemning any form of discrimination or bias.

Humility and Service

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4

Community Resilience is dedicated to serving others selflessly, prioritizing the needs of the community.

Expected Conduct

Professional Integrity

All members are expected to conduct themselves with professional integrity, avoiding any behavior that might bring disrepute to the organization. This includes honesty in communication, fairness in decision-making, and accountability for actions.

Respectful Communication

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29

Community Resilience members' communication should always be respectful, constructive, and free from harmful language.

Conflict Resolution

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17

Matthew 18:15-17 provides guidance on addressing conflicts. Community Resilience encourages resolving disputes through direct, respectful dialogue, seeking mediation if necessary, and always striving for reconciliation.

Stewardship of Resources

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

1 Peter 4:10 reminds us to use our gifts to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace. Community Resilience is committed to responsibly managing the organization’s resources, ensuring their use aligns with its mission and values.

Implementation and Enforcement

Honor Your Commitment

All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. Matthew 5:37

Reinforcing the idea that honoring commitments is tied to responsibility and respect for others. This aligns with the values of honesty, accountability, and stewardship. Scriptures such as Matthew 5:37, which says, "Let your "Yes" be "Yes" and your "No", "No" reminds us that we should be trustworthy and dependable in all our commitments.

Reporting Violations

Members are encouraged to report any breaches of this policy to the Community Resilience Council of Elders Board. Reports will be treated confidentially, respecting the privacy of all parties involved.

Disciplinary Actions

Violations of the Code of Conduct will be addressed promptly and fairly after attempting to resolve the conflict according to the Conflict Resolution policy, above. Disciplinary measures may include counseling, warnings, suspension, or termination of membership, depending on the severity of the breach.

Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. Updates will be made as needed, incorporating feedback from members and reflecting any changes in organizational or legal standards.
